Strip – Inconel Alloy 600

Inconel® alloy 600

UNS N06600
W.Nr 2.4816

Applications

Reactor vessels, furnace seals fans and fixtures and process equipment.

Description

Inconel® 600 is a Nickel-Chromium-Iron alloy with good corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and high strength at high temperatures. Inconel® 600 is highly resistant to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking due to the high nickel content. Age-hardening treatments are not required, as Inconel® 600 is hardened and strengthened through cold work only. Inconel® 600 can operate from cryogenic temperatures to 700°F.

Inconel® 600 Strip Alloy

Inconel® 600 is a crafted metallic material that offers superior heat, oxidation, and also deterioration resistance. The service temperature of this alloy can go down to the lowest cryogenic limits, with the top end maxing out at around 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Inconel® 600 strip alloy offers outstanding resistance to organic as well as inorganic substances, chloride ion stress corrosion cracking, and also oxidizing conditions and reducing. Furthermore, the chromium material in alloy 600 provides resistance to sulfur substances. 600 specialty steel is also non-magnetic in nature. It has great mechanical properties at both high and low temperature levels. Nickel based super alloys are the very best products in the market for industrial applications that require not only heat strength, but also exceptional deterioration resistance. They have great workability and are excellent for chemical processing units due to their high level of resistance to a number of different chemicals.

Inconel® 600 strip is a nickel-chromium alloy used for applications that need both corrosion and resistance to the highest of temperatures. The high nickel material in 600 is what enables it to retain considerable resistance under reducing conditions. It also makes it resistant to deterioration by a variety of both organic and non-organic compounds, provides it outstanding resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion splitting and finally, supplies exceptional resistance to alkaline solutions.

There are several different industries that utilize Inconel® 600 strip alloy. Some of the most popular industries include aerospace, chemical, food processing, nuclear engineering, heat treating, components for gas turbines, and even paper. This alloy can be utilized in processes that involve both extreme heat, and extreme cold. When you compare this alloy to other metals, it can handle colder temperatures than mild steel, not as much as 304 stainless steel, but is more amiable to machine work.

Inconel® 600 strip is best utilized in severe environments. It performs well in gas turbine blades, seals, and combustors, in addition to turbocharger blades and seals, electric completely submersible well pumps, electric motor shafts, high temperature bolts, chemical processing, pressure vessels, warmth exchanger tubes, vapor generators and core parts in nuclear pressurized water activators.  Similarly, you will often find it in the exhaust systems of race cars in all different levels of the sport, and also the turbo systems of high performance vehicles that are offered commercially. It is increasingly used in the central heating boilers of waste burners.
